Bad Times at the El Royale

As a set designer for this noir thriller with a mid-century bent, I developed the detailed design for the bar, lounge and confessional areas.

The entirety of the film plays out within the generous lounge space, which was carefully divided into various zones of intrigue. This gave the design team license to invest time in the finer details - everything from the mouldings to the rattan type to the custom wine shelving was tailored in collaboration with the director to suit the crucial action scenes taking place within the bar.
