Australian Open 2025: Wominjeka Installation

While the player spaces within the Australian Open have a weighted focus on athletic performance, recovery and the sporting element of the event, there are a number of locations where sharing the story of place and country is made a priority. For the Wominjeka installation, I chose to highlight the natural elements distinct in the tournament’s setting alongside the work of artist Bobbi Lockyer. A collage of screens was set upon a base of native florals supplied by local botanical design studio Alchemy Orange, while the screens and technical support came from Boom Studios.

  • all content was collected within the Australian Open precinct to showcase the native species and the environment around them

  • a custom audio track was made with songs from Australian native birds

  • the installation was positioned along the main player pathway, offering a chance to step away from the intensity of the tournament for a few moments
